Fishing Rod And Reel Combo

Anyone Find a Spare Set of Teeth?    by Marilyn Burton

My dad and a few of his close friends decided to take a week’s fishing trip, and what better place to go than Okatibbee Lake in Mississippi.

Dad had just bought some new fishing gear, a Daiwa rod and reel combo and an Okuma rod and reel combo, which he proudly showed off to his friends.

On the second day into the trip after very successful first day fishing, they had caught bass and bream plus a couple of small catfish.
Cyril hooked what felt like a large fish, it gave him a great fight, the boys were there ready with the net to help pull in the “fish”.
As he reeled it in closer to the boat they were all very excited seeing it was probably about a 12lb catfish.
In all the excitement just as they managed to net the catfish Cyril’s false teeth fell out of his mouth into the lake. Whilst everyone else was ecstatic about the catch Cyril’s excitement waned with the loss of his teeth and the thought of spending five more days “toothless”.
Nothing the boys could do would cheer him up as he went off to the other end of the boat to console himself.
Next day Ross pulled in a rather large catfish and the boys decided to play a trick on Cyril in an attempt to cheer him up. Sam took his false teeth out and put them in the catfish’s mouth.
The boys shouted to Cyril to say they’d found his false teeth. He rushed over saw the false teeth got real excited took them out of the catfish’s mouth had a good look and said “nah these aren’t mine” and threw them back into the lake.
So if anyone needs false teeth go fishing in Okatibbee Lake!

Fly Fishing California Saltwater   by Buddy Morrow

Later that day we stopped by the bait shop and on the list of local watering holes. Everyone was talking about the considerable schools of bluefish that entering the sound around the point at Cape Hatteras. The following morning we anchored the boat just while in the entrance to the sound in the point and waited. The shoreline was full four wheel drives parked right next to each other. It was not some time before I witnessed something which will never forget. What I saw appeared as if the water starting in order to boil. The area was larger than the figures on a football field along with was coming within Fly Fishing rod reach of us. On my first placed I hooked a 12 months pound bluefish and was amazed with the power of the fish I needed hooked. After I landed the fish, my friend said, a small one. It was the largest fish I saw it ever caught fly outdoor. I would soon perspiring he was talking in relation to. On my very up coming cast I hooked a twenty-two pound bluefish. For the next 2 hours we followed the college and caught fish on just about every cast. By the time the school disappeared my arms, fists shoulders and back ached.

The following day I was sore throughout and suggested we opted of the little calmer type regarding fishing. We again revisited all the flats and caught quite a few redfish and trout. On our third we revisited all the inlet and again qualified the amazing bluefish jog two days earlier.

Bluefish are voracious feeders and will attack almost any saltwater flies with a small amount of color and flash for it. That morning I busted fish on Clouser’s Minnows not to mention Lefty’s Deceivers. Since that day that Clouser’s Minnow and Lefty’s Deceiver have grown to be my favorite flies, and We’ve caught bluefish, snook, redfish, tarpon, stripers, drum false albacore and also other species.

That was my initial experience with saltwater Fly Fishing but was in no way my last. Since that week For a nice and Fly Fishing at any Florida Keys, up and down this eastern US coast along with Belize but nothing WE ever replace the memories Relating to of my first deep sea fly fishing trip.

Clear fluids and tight lines,

Brian
.
Most significant thrills in Pacific Northwest journey fishing is bringing large anadramous fish to some surface fly. While surface fishing while in the saltwater is not because popular as subsurface take off fishing, feeding saltwater coho salmon is going to take a popper quite in a hostile manner.

First, take a joint of notebook paper and sketch an 8-inch line. This is used for writing down your marks and figures to the layout of the 60/40 tapered fly-leader and really should be saved for long term future reference. Starting from left to right inside the 5″ point or in relation to 60 %, make a vertical line that is actually above and below collection. Therefore, everything to the left from this vertical line will be the butt section or 60 percent and everything with the right of the vertical line would be the tippet section or 40 percent from the 8″ line.

The Qualities of Saltwater Fly Fishing Rods   by Lynn Porter

Those shopping for saltwater Fly Fishing rods have a number of factors to consider. A saltwater rod is different from a freshwater rod. There are also differences between Fly Fishing rods and other types of fishing rods. When shopping for a rod, it is important to buy one that is appropriate for the type of fishing you are planning to do. Otherwise, you run the risk of your brand new rod being damaged or ruined. If you are going to spend the time and money to invest in a fishing rod, make sure you choice the right one for you.
For starters, saltwater fly rods need to be able to case longer distances and troll bait at deeper depths. Freshwater rods are usually better when used in smaller areas, such as streams and rivers. The saltwater rod will be cast into the ocean which has more open space than a freshwater fishing spot. Saltwater rods are also classified as high-speed or low-speed. High-speed reels use a gear ratio greater than 6:1 to retrieve baits at breakneck speed. Low-speed reels, with a ratio less than 4:1, offer more power for fighting big fish. Some reels allow anglers to switch from high speed to low speed with the push of a button.
Most saltwater Fly Fishing rods are capable of handling heavy lines that can take a great deal of pressure from both the water and the fish. Freshwater rod lines are lighter, so they are easier to control, but the line would not stand up in the harsh current of the ocean. Saltwater lines are sturdy enough to control the type of larger, powerful fish you are likely to find in the ocean. Despite the strength of the line, it will likely need to be replaced more frequently during fishing trips than that of a freshwater rod. Saltwater rods are also thicker, giving them additional strength when it comes to handling the fish. Rods typically range in size from five to 10 feet in length.
Saltwater fly fishing rods give anglers the ability to reach long distances and to sustain a lot of abuse. A lot of them are made of materials that are resistant to the saltwater and the salty air. Many saltwater fishing rods are made of graphite or fiberglass. The graphite rod is stiffer and more sensitive, while fiberglass fishing rod is tougher and has more power. The salt has a tendency to corrode both the external and internal parts of the rod. If your rod is showing wear and tear from salt exposure, it is possible to oil the rod to prevent rusting. However, when purchasing a saltwater rod, always ask about its durability in regard to salt exposure.
There are three types of saltwater fly fishing rods. Bait casting rods hold more line, cast farther and produce a smoother drag than spinning reels, but are more challenging to cast. Bait casting reels work well for long casts or big bait. The saltwater trolling rod is a fancier version of the bait casting rod and has a revolving spool reel that sits on top of the rod. Spinning gear rods use a spinning reel with a fixed spool that is mounted below the spinning rod.
