Fly Tying Guide
Fly Tying Guide

I am a fishing guide in Utah and noticed that when I started in the Provo and Weber Rivers had the same errors that today the majority of people, which is separation from their weight in flight and after the first of March to fly past. Here is a simple way to find out if you have a platform Fly Fishing in the proportions set out appropriate.

After configuring your computer should start by adding at least 8 meters leader to fly line. The bottom line feet nine inches from 1916 to 1918 include 4x tippet and tie the first flight. Now place from 16 to 18 inch 5X tippet to fly to another tie, or the tippet to the eye line (No body on the fly from the top). Remember that, depending on the depth of about two "BB" pesos above the first node the first flight down. Therefore, it will look like:
———————- ROD (8 'x ————— leader )—– XXX ————- ————- ————

(Must be the flag-six feet with the weight) (weight) (1st) (2nd place)

If these steps and go and fish in the river gets Provo very well. Especially if you use # 16 "PR Sow Bug" Flies rain associated with the first (with orange thread through the eye of the hook) and 18 # "Split Back PMD Emerger combines the solitude like flies fly his second.

Now that you know the secret of separation, now to catch more fish! Although this technique works in all water spaces of more than two meters deep and a half. Good luck at fishing Fly, Utah.

If you are ever fly fishing Utah and want a professional Utah fishing guide I would love to help. Justin@utahproflyfishing.com

Fly Fishing Artwork

Many people have taken to decorating their homes and offices with some quite exciting artwork or photographs. But to get the best out of these kinds of decoration, it is sometimes necessary to illuminate them in a clever and innovative way so that people see them as soon as they enter the room. Picture lights serve just such a purpose and really put the illumination exactly where it is needed. A picture light can come in many forms and will suit just about any situation too.

What people tend to forget about lamps and illumination is that it brings some warmth and ambience to any setting. That is, if the balance is kept right of course. Merely throwing up some spots here and there is not really the way to make sure that the room takes on a warm and welcoming glow so taking a little time to work out what will look good, is probably a good idea.

Most people these days do not like harsh overhead lamps which tend to make everyone look a little pale and uninteresting. However, a well placed table lamp or floor standing lamp will add an ambience to the room which makes it look very cozy indeed. For paintings or photographs on the walls, there is another form of illumination which looks great no matter if it is powered directly from the mains or from batteries which makes it highly movable.

Indeed, when people find a new piece, they often do not know where it will look at its best. To work this out, perhaps a lamp with batteries will fit directly onto the frame to let the householder see how it will look. Once the place that it looks best in has been found, it may be necessary to put some electricity outlets in that area for a more permanent solution. However, since this often needs some messy and expensive building work to be undertaken, some people will use lamps that require batteries for some time.

In offices, where seminars or displays may be the order of the day, using battery operated illumination is ideal since they can be moved around at will. Even certificates and qualifications need to be highlighted for the public to see so finding something that will give an excellent view, but which will not obstruct the viewing of the documents, is ideal.

For most of these positions, a narrow and long fitting is necessary which stands out from the wall on arms and shines directly down onto the artwork or certificates. Because it is normally shaded, it does not shine directly into the eyes of the viewer and will just do the job perfectly.

The finishes on these lamps are such that they normally fit in with just about any décor, whether it is an ultra modern setting or somewhere where a more traditional look is needed. Indeed, the thinner and less obtrusive it is the better for all concerned since no one wants to look at the back of the lamp.

Connor Sullivan is an entrepreneur who runs a large group of websites that specialize in high end items such as picture lights. He noticed the battery operated picture light is a popular item.

Fishing Rod Kit

Fishing Rod Kit
Fishing Rod Kit

A battery powered self-propelled fishing bobber that you do not have to cast. Have we become so lazy that we cannot even throw a line out to catch a fish? However, upon further review, the Trolling Bobber is a product that makes a lot of sense.

Rather than cast your line in the traditional manner, you simply place the bobber in the water and let the battery powered motor take your line out as far as you want. You can steer the bobber by whipping your pole in the opposite direction that you want the bobber to turn. To stop the bobber when it gets to the spot you want to fish, just crank your line in a little and it will stop. Because you do not cast the line, you can fish from just about any spot you want without having to worry about your line ending up someplace other than in the water.

A better and safer way to fish was Mark Jacobson’s inspiration for creating the Trolling Bobber. Somewhat of a tinkerer, Mark was in Florida on a family vacation when they went fishing. On this particular day, one of Marks’s sons caught him right on the ear while casting with his fishing pole. This made Mark think that there had to be a safer way to fish. Thus the idea for the Trolling Bobber was born.

You can use most any weight of line or bait with the trolling bobber. You just need to make sure that the fishing line will support the kind of fish you want to catch. As for the bait, use whatever you think will attract the fish that you want to catch on that day. Shark bait is not recommended, however.

Using one AA battery, (Heavy Duty Bobber uses two), it is easy to attach the bobber to your line. Just attach the line from your pole to the swivel on top of the bobber and snap it into the rudder slot. Attach your bait to the bottom leader, turn the motor on and, drop your line in the water and away you go.

This is a very good product for kids and other people that have a hard time casting a fishing line. Why? If you are spending less time getting your line out of the trees or other people’s ears you are spending more time catching fish, which makes the day more fun for everyone involved.

One last thing, the son that hooked his father’s ear was Erik Jacobson who now manages the company.

Doug likes to fish. Our site includes dual combo fly systems, nymph droppers and the self propelled trolling bobber. Please visit us at http://www.dlifishthingsonline.com

how to attach an eyeletless fishing hook?

I bought a telescopic fishing rod kit (I am a complete beginner), but the hooks don’t have eyelets in them.

It came with a float, hooks, a small rubbery sleeve and a small metal ball with a slice out of it. I can’t figure out how to attach the hook, and it came with no instructions!

Can you help?

Hi, No problem…loads of hooks don’t have eyes. They have a broadened end instead.
You just wrap the line round the hook shaft using a knot called a hook snood. When you pull it tight the broadened end of the shaft stops it coming off.
It will hold heavy fish…no worries. The harder you pull it the tighter it gets.
Scroll down here to hook snood…it shows the knot being formed.
http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/helpful/tips-and-tricks/fishing-knots/ . . ..
You can use an ordinary half blood knot as well. Normally they go through holes like eyes in fishing hooks and swivels and that’s the normal knot to use for those.
To use one on an eyeless hook you need to loop the double line over the hook shaft instead of putting it through a hole and hold it in place with a thumb while you put the twists in it and pull it tight enough to grip the shaft.
Then put a stick or your fishing scissors or whatever through the hook to give you something to grip properly and safely and pull it tight. The broadened end of the shaft stops it coming off.
It will hold just the same as a hook snood. Here it is using a thicker rope so you can see what’s happening. Again, when you pull harder it tightens up harder.
It’s a bit like …I’ll never get how to do this.. for a couple of goes but keep on….we were all like that when we started.
http://www.ehow.com/video_4468104_tie-half-blood-knot.html . . . .
The small metal ball is a weight that just clamps over the line. Do it gently or you cut into the line.
The rubber sleeve can be used for a number of things.
It covers connections and swivels to make them smoother and stops things getting tangled up with bits of knots and protects them from wear and damage, and it can act as a spacer.
If you don’t want to use it just ignore it.
It isn’t essential until you can’t live without a bit!
You’re trapped then….hooked.
You’re an angler…..careful.
Weeks only get 7 days in them. You might be using a lot of that.
Here is some being used to make a pellet rig for barbel.
Get all the way through the pics…it’s a complicated one this for the real enthusiast….. a look at the future maybe haha…but it shows how inventive people can get when making rigs for a specific purpose. It just dangles a bit of bait under the hook.
Hook? What hook? Just tried a quick peck at that bait …felt OK, tasty that…no hook there…..ahhh, what the hell, take the lot of it…nothing wrong with that.
Gaaarhhh! Blinking hook got me. Where’d that come from?
It’s spy versus counterspy with angling…….careful fishy….hehehe
http://www.total-fishing.com/Features.aspx?Category=coarse&ID=The_Perfect_Pellet_Rig . . .
Fishermen are always looking for ideas….even about tubing. Here’s a forum . Tubing question.
http://www.carpforum.com/Shared/Messages.asp?TopicID=156400 . . . .
Enjoy the fishing. Telescopics can be OK. I use one for trekking holidays sometimes. Fishing to eat.

……Edit for FishSteelhead
Hi, Not just in UK…I’ve bought those hooks in Far East too and round Europe.
Tiny to big…long shank and short.
Good for tying small flies. Less to hide, lays flat.
Biggest I had on one probably the grassies in the Singapore ponds….20lb or so.
Makes a good night out….food stalls, company if you want…careful though.
Plenty of 8-10lb salmon with them in Scotland and south of England.
Good in Scotland….decent smokeries too. Dunkeld…

The company represents many outdoor and recreational products, though its primary focus remains fishing equipment. The company started by accident, really. Many years ago Chuck – formerly a popular game-show host – was at a fishing show, checking out the latest and greatest in fishing gear. It was one of those shows we’ve all been to, where you can see everything from boats and campers to dollar lures. While looking around, Chuck bumped into an inventor who was making one last effort to sell some of his motorized fishing lures. He gave Chuck a couple of the lures, talked to him about the science behind the design, and wished him luck. Honestly, Chuck thought the lures were toys, so when he got home, he tossed them into his tackle box and forgot about them for months? He fished like usual, using his old baits, until one day Chuck was fishing a lake where nothing was biting. Willing to try anything, he tied on the motorized fishing lure and cast it into the water. Almost immediately, after a day without a single bite, fish started striking. Right then he knew he had something special. It wasn’t long before Chuck and a couple friends bought the company. People started hearing about this game show host that bought a lure company. In fishing circles, people were talking about the motorized lure and so on. Soon the lures were selling like crazy. Chuck and his team started looking for other great fishing products – the stuff he’d be proud to use himself. That’s where things stand today – top quality products that perform as promised. Plain and simple.

Fly Fishing Tube
Fly Fishing Tube

Choosing the best float tube for fishing can be a daunting task. There are many different varieties on the market made by many different manufacturers, so how do you know which type is the best for you? In this article I’ll outline a few of the more popular and effective tubes on the market, so you can make a more informed decision.

Fishing from a float tube can be a very fun and effective way to reach area’s that would otherwise go un-fished. Fishing from these boats can be a bit strange at first, so be prepared to give it a little time. When you strap on your float tube for the first time and enter the water, you feel a bit like a big, awkward duck, but this feeling will pass with time and experience.

Below are some of the most popular varieties of fishing tubes and features of each. This will help you make a much more informed purchase when buying one of these boats for fishing.

  1. Classic Teton Float Tube – This float tube is the best value for the money, and a great entry level boat. It features an easy front entry style, along with a comfortable back rest. It has a very stable design and is equipped with a couple of horizontal rod holders. This tube can be found for under a hundred bucks and is a great value for the money spent.
  2. Classic Jumbo Float Tube – This float tube is almost exactly like the classic Teton, but made for the larger angler. This boat is for big guys who still want to float high and dry. This model also features an easy front entry style and a few extra pockets for all of your fishing gear. The classic jumbo is the choice for larger anglers who still want the comfort and convenience of a float tube.
  3. Togiak Backpackable Pontoon – For anyone who likes to back pack into remote waters, this boat is a must have. It easily fits into a backpack for transportation. This tube features extra comfortable stadium seat with a high adjustable backrest provides extra support and comfort, as well as a raised seat for drier and warmer fishing and improved visibility. When it comes to float tubes and float tube fishing the Backpackable float tube is a great option.

Any of these tubes will serve you well and quickly make you a float tube aficionado. One of the most important things to remember in regards to fishing with these boats is to make sure that your float tube is very inflated. You will need a good hand pump to accomplish this task. Using your lungs is not going to do it. Sure you can blow up your tube with your mouth, but it won’t be nearly tight enough. To fish comfortably your tube needs to be tight like a car tire. A good hand pump is the best way to accomplish this task. Now that you can make an informed decision, make your final choice and get out there and catch some fish.

How do you explain death of a loved one to a 4 1/2 year old?

My grandfather passed away last night, and I am flying home tomorrow morning to be with my family. He had cancer. When my daughter and I flew home at the beginning of November to spend time with both sets of grandparents, she saw that he was sick. He was hooked up to a feeding tube and he could barely walk, barely talk. Although it made her nervous, she recognized the feeding pump as the same one she used when she was younger. So, she equated it to her own health, and became more comfortable with him.

She has had fish die. I think 5. And she as flushed them all down the toilet without any Rudy Huxtable drama. (For those that are my generation – you know exactly what I mean…)

I don’t want to scare her and lead her into worrying that Mommy and Daddy could die and leave her. She doesn’t understand that it could happen. And I don’t know that I want her to have that fear. Can you please give me your opinions on how best to talk with her about his passing?

Thank you!

Well, we are religious people, so when my son’s beloved great-grandmother died when he was 3.5, we told him that she had finished all the work that God had for her to do on earth and had died and gone to live with the Lord forever in heaven. We told him she was healthy and happy with the Lord and that she could watch him grow up and pray for him for his whole life. He first wanted to go “rescue” her from heaven — take a helicopter up to heaven and get her. But we explained again that she was very happy and healthy in heaven and had no more problems or aches and pains, so even though we’re sad because we miss her, we must learn to be happy that she had a good life on earth and now a greater life in heaven.

He did from time to time ask about us, and we would just say, “Oh, God still has lots of work for us to do on earth, like helping you grow up. Don’t worry about it.” And he didn’t. He also asked about himself, and we would say the same thing — he had a lot of work to do that God had planned for him. He thought about that and said, “I haven’t even started yet!” so that made him feel safel.
