Fishing Rod Luggage

Rod holdalls are essential items to have especially when your collection of rods, landing net handles, bank sticks and umbrella increases. They allow all these items to be carried easily with less chance of breakage. When buying a holdall, always buy one that will allow plenty of rooms of any future tackle such as poles and additional rods. The best holdalls I have found are the full length zipped tubular type that take the plastic tubes and have Velcro fastenings in side. Avoid the narrow tubular holdalls with a small top only zipped opening. The zips tend to get clogged up with mud and often break, and there is a strong chance of damaging your rod rings as you push or force your rods down inside. One big advantage of the full length zipped type holdall is that all the items are laid side by side in their various compartments, and then rolled together and zipped up when you have finished fishing. You can easily do a spot check to make sure you have packed everything and you can tell at a glance if anything is missing. Another big thing in their favor is that they are generally cheaper than the other type and more hardwearing, so they last longer. Anglers who have not yet to discover the considerable advantages of a rucksack are in for a pleasant surprise. The advantages are that they have many pockets that swallow.
