Newest Bass Fishing Lures On The Market

While there are some so-called ‘new’ bass lures on the market, in actuality they are just re-vamped normal designs. There are a few exceptions:

The Banjo Minnow: Not really a new lure, but a different way of rigging a soft plastic bait. The infomercial says that it makes the lure move more naturally.

I’ve watched videos of it, and it doesn’t move any better than a lot of baits already on the market. Will it catch fish? Probably, at least sometimes. Is it better than baits already on the market? I doubt it. If you like them, use them.

The Flying Lure: A normal tube jig with a reversed weight on it. This causes the lure to swim AWAY from the casting point, keeping the line tight, and allowing it to ‘swim’ under undercuts and structure previously considered unreachable.

Invented by Alex Langer in the 1970s, this lure really did impact the market, and is still a good lure. Does it out fish others? Under some conditions, yes! Is it better than standard lures? No. It is a specialty lure that is one more tool for your tackle box.

I’d recommend having a few, but I don’t use them all the time. They work best near heavy structure and undercuts.

The Bionic Minnow: A Banjo Minnow clone. There are other ‘TV’ , supposedly ‘new’ lures out there, but suffice to say they are mostly for catching fisherman.

Lure fall into a few basic catagories:

Surface Plugs- the industry standard is the Heddon Chugger, and Rapala Poppers. Others that are time-proven are the Jitterbug, Torpedo, Hula Popper, Lucky 13, Devils Horse, Rapala Floating Minnow, Rebel ultralite Critters, Crazy Crawler, and the Zara Spook. New offerings are just different color schemes of the same.

Subsurface Plugs-also known as crankbaits, these include classics like the
Big O, Shad-Rap, Hellbender, Lazy Ike, Little George and Little Suzy, Cotton
Cordell’s Jointed Minnows, Bombers, and Yo Zuri Snap Beans. Again, new offerings are just new colors.

Soft Baits-these are jigs rigged with soft plastic bodies that imitate every aquatic creature in the planet, and some that only exist in nightmares!
They catch all predator species, in all waters, all the time, fresh or saltwater, inshore, offshore or along the shore.

There are many different ways to rig them, and they are the most versatile lures an angler can have. The industry standard is the still King of Lures, the Plastic Worm. This has probably accounted for more landed fish than any other bait ever used, including live bait. Other models imitate shad, crustaceans, minnows and other baitfish.

They are the top choice of most pro Tournament anglers. One of the top trout lures is the Trout Magnet, a soft inchworm-type bait that almost never fails if you find the right color combination for that particular time. This catagory also includes Tube Baits, which are phenominal. Also, the ultra-successful Sassy Shad family.

There is little new here. They already come in every size, color and shape imaginable. How can you improve on perfection? If I could only have one type of lure, this would be it, hands down!

In Fly fishing, is a roll cast the most useful?

Just trying to pick up a few tips. I am a novice, but there are so many great rivers around here. I learned the roll cast because it seems to be the easiest one for me.

A roll cast is very useful in situations when your back cast is limited. However, you really need to learn a variety of other casts to become a proficient fly fisherman. Overhead and side arm casts are important for increasing distance and for delicate presentations; both of which you will need as you progress.

Get yourself a book or video on casting techniques and practice on a lawn or at a park with a small piece of yarn at the end of your leader instead of a fly. A book I have found helpful is “Casting With Lefty Kreh”. Be sure to pay attention to your back cast, as it is as important as your forward cast. With practice it will all come together for you. I hope this helps.

Bass Fishing

Bass fishing is considered to be the number one freshwater sport. Bass fishing can be a family experience and is no longer considered a man’s sport anymore. Many female anglers are discovering how fun and exciting bass fishing can be. Whether a beginner or a pro anyone can enjoy bass fishing. A few essential facts and general knowledge is all you need to get started on the chance of catching the bass of a lifetime. Bass fishing is an art and a sport that has been analyzed for hundreds of years. Practiced and mastered by serious anglers.

 

Knowing when and where to fish for bass can vary from state to state. You should contact an area tackle store or bait shop and ask for a fishing laws and opening dates book. Bait shops are a good place to start for finding out where the good bass fishing lakes are in your area. They can also tell you what bait fish are biting on. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It is a good idea to fish one lake to start with, get familiar with the lake and where bass are being caught. Observe other fishermen and where they are fishing and what they are catching. Fish alone shallow shorelines and points with weed lines and rock piles in early spring. As the water warms up bass will move into deeper water and around sunken islands. Try the first drop offs with weed cover on them. Early morning and early evening can be the best times for bass fishing.

 

There are many Fishing Reels and Fishing Rods available on the market today for bass fishing. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money for a good rod and reel. Most any medium action graphite 6 foot rod and a medium action bait cast reel spooled with 10 or 12 pound test line will be suitable for bass fishing. As a rule the more ball bearings a bait cast reel has the smoother the reel will operate, which will make for longer cast and easier reeling. Some of the better rod and reel manufactures are Shimano, Pflueger, Penn, Quantum, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Shakespeare and Berkley. A good rule of thumb in purchasing a rod and reel is you get what you pay for. Proper care and maintenance of your fishing gear can make a big difference in how well it works and how long it last. Keeping your reels cleaned and oiled will add years to there life. Also keeping rods stored out of the hot sun and moisture will extend there life as well. Keeping those rods and reels off the floor of the boat will prevent stepping on them and breakage.

 

Choosing the right bait for bass fishing can be quite challenging for the bass fisherman. Many fishermen have learned that a simple plastic worm is perhaps the most attractive bait to a bass. The plastic worm is at the top of a list of the top three baits for bass fishing. With the spinner bait and crank bait being second and third on the list. However, picking one of these three is not enough. Some factors are still needed to be considered. You must consider if it is better to cover a smaller amount of water thoroughly or skim across a larger area as quickly as possible to find fish. Using a worm is slower, but absolutely effective and is very seductive to bass. The plastic worm does best when the fish are schooled over a particular structure. One of the problems with plastic worms is the inability to feel strikes. But with practice and consistency it can be mastered. If you want to cover a bigger area of water, you will want to use the spinner bait or crank bait. Do not overlook live bait when it comes to bass fishing. Sometimes a minnow or night crawler below a bobber will work well, or fishing in the lily pads with a live frog just might make your day.

 

Light conditions and water clarity can be a big factor when choosing the right bait. On sunny days and in clear water, use darker colors so the bass can see the bait better. On cloudy days and when the water is not clear use brighter colors. When fishing is tough, choose various baits and colors to lure that big bass out from under that log or weed cover. Weather conditions can play a big factor when fishing for bass. When cold fronts come through, beware. The barometer will drop and mister bass will hold tighter to cover and may even head for deeper water. Getting the bass to bite may be impossible. This can be typical with many varieties of fish. Many people fish by the barometer and rely on it. It may be something you will want to add to your tackle box. If your fishing time is limited, you may want to go fishing anyway, just to enjoy the weather and relaxation.

you might want to spend a bit more and get a 5500 C3. The BCX versions aren’t nearly as good as a C3. Go to Bass Pro Shops Online and check out the reviews on the C3 and the BCX, it’s an eye opener.

We fished for several hours without much luck and decided to change a flight at the pig's stomach in less than half an hour he was able to land from 6 lbs grilse. It took me half an hour to land the fish. (Fish safely returned to the river) I now see why Pot Belly Pig is a popular march.

Nice clean place, perfect for fly fishing experience, accessible, depending on weather conditions, the chance for salmon. It is an excellent place to study fish in a river.

What's announcement at this point is that that actually measures River brown trout to supplement the natural fish population. I noticed a large number of small 2.1-inch trout, which is a real positive because it means they are natural fish spawning areas and this may lead activities in the premises of the brand and even better fishing trout.

And already this summer, fly fishing, because I live in Wyoming and is a great thing, but I'm from Louisiana. I hear of Fly Fishing is an art, blah, blah, blah. I am well educated and certainly no less qualified in my mind of another person, but I think it is a fishing fly shit. I can understand fifty seriously lake in Louisiana from the Hot Rod and I can spend hours in the bay of the drive to Wyoming with my staff fly and catch the two. Then shop guys say that flying is a good day for this stream. Fly Fishing sucks right? Fishing on fish not art. I like fly fishing drift boat with friends, because then the only easy time with friends, but in a different way, even when I'm fishing fish, I do not think all that exciting. I like reel'em in. I do not set the hook extremely difficult. I think that the big fish down and as long as the lines sink, fly fishing, I have a fever.
