November offshore report

November is one of the best times to be offshore in the gulf. The black grouper have moved to shallower waters, making for less travel time and more fishing time. It also allows me to troll for grouper with my clients, this can be an effective and fun way to put big black grouper in the boat. Last week I took an 8 hour charter fishing for Mangrove snapper at a wreck in 65 feet, after limiting out on Mangos from 16-20 inches I decided to troll for grouper. I’m glad we did!, after only 30 minutes of trolling we had 12 black grouper in the boat all between 24-28 inches. The amberjack have also been providing consistant action, these fish are brutes and a blast to catch. Most of November has been going this way, great weather and better fishing. The kingfish have moved south of the area with only sporadic bites. The water temps are forecast to take a dive, this should’nt affect the grouper and snapper fishing, but if your looking for kingfish, look farther south. The inshore bite has been slow, except for overslot redfish which seem to have shown up on structure in and around the passes. With fuel prices dropping I have been extending trips at no extra charge,  I will continue to do so as long as poss. Thanks for reading-Capt. Brandon
